19 Mar 1946 Luscombe Silvaire 8E
“My 1954 Mcaulley fixed pitch prop, pulling along a 1946 Luscombe Silvaire 8E, G-BRUG, seemed to be producing mild vibration and, after a couple of years, it was time to have it attended to. I contacted PropTech, at Lee on Solent airfield, and spoke to Alistair, technical division. He was very easy to chat to and put me at ease.
I drove the prop to them to have it inspected and it was indeed out, both vertically and horizontally. My first impressions of the warmth and attention put me at ease and I was highly impressed with the state of art and cleanliness of the workshop floor.
I was then introduced to Charlotte, head of Commercial and, again, very impressed with the attention and friendly approach as we discussed the prop and procedures.
During the process of balancing and repainting the rear of the prop, Charlotte kept me fully informed of progress. My prop was a a little more tricky to balance in the vertical plane and became a little nervous of the cost – Charlotte was very aware of my concern and reassured me costs would be charged per hour but would be kept to the minimum.
Only 7 days later, the prop was ready to be collected and, when I saw it once again, I was delighted to see the chaps in the workshop had re polished it to a standard I struggle to maintain! I met them and thanked them. They took the time, along with Charlotte and office staff, to see me and prop off. Good old fashioned service – amazing! The prop is now smooth and vibration free. Thank you to the team.
Excellent value for money and I would thoroughly recommend Proptech to anyone requiring their services.” – Nigel Barratt, Owner
